GAMMALUX DUO Front Projection

GAMMALUX DUO is a double-sided front projection screen that is 98% light-proof and double-sided. It consists of two laminated films with a gray back and is suitable for all types of front projection, including soft-edge projection. The film is used in stretched or traverse frames and as a large-area projection film, also temporarily in front of window fronts. With good elasticity, it offers a higher black level for text presentations on the gray side and high-quality projections for cinema and home cinema on the white side. It is ideal for presentations with a high proportion of scattered light and offers very good contrast, even for dome and cupola projections.

GAMMALUX DUO MICRO Front Projection

GAMMALUX DUO MICRO, which can be used on both sides, has the same properties as GAMMALUX DUO, but is perforated and therefore not light-tight. With 300,000 holes per square meter and an open area of around 6 %, it is ideal for cinema and home cinema applications with loudspeakers behind the projection screen. The micro-perforation is barely visible from a short distance. White side: High-end front projection screen for cinemas and home cinemas. Gray side: Ideal for presentations with a high proportion of scattered light and very good contrast. Often used in stretcher and truss frames.

SCENE Front Projection

SCENE is a robust, 100% light-proof front projection screen with a white projection side and black reverse side. Ideal for truss frames, stretcher frames or theater hoists, it is suitable for softedge with good luminance distribution. Due to its high dimensional stability, it is also used in MEGASCREENS. The SCENE film can be used as an effect film by projecting it onto the black reverse side.

SCENE PERFORATED Front Projection

The SCENE PERFORATED front projection film has the same properties and areas of application as the SCENE, but is perforated and therefore not light-proof. With 57,000 holes per square meter, 1.25 mm hole diameter and 7 % open area, it appears closed even from a few meters away. For shorter viewing distances, we recommend a micro-perforated film.

OPERA® WHITE 2.2 Front Projection

OPERA® WHITE 2.2 is the classic Gerriets projection screen, which is a non-lightproof, pure white front projection screen with a luminance factor of ß = 0.98. It is a robust all-round film that is suitable for both full-screen and soft-edge projection and is therefore popular for use in theaters and cinemas.

OPERA® WHITE 2.2 PERFORATED Front Projection

The front projection screen OPERA® WHITE 2.2 PERFORATED is comparable to the OPERA® WHITE 2.2, but with additional perforation for sound transmission. It is often used in cinemas or home cinemas when speakers are positioned behind the projection screen and the viewing distance is large enough for the holes to be unrecognizable as such. With a perforation of 57,000 holes per square meter, a hole diameter of 1.25 mm and an open area of approx. 7%, the perforated film has a closed effect even at a distance of a few meters. For smaller viewing distances, we recommend the use of a micro-perforated film.

OPERA® WHITE 2.2 MICRO Front Projection

The OPERA® WHITE 2.2 MICRO is a micro-perforated version of the OPERA® WHITE 2.2, ideal for cinema and home cinema areas with loudspeakers behind the projection surface. It has 300,000 holes per square meter, a hole diameter of 0.50 mm and approx. 6% open area, making it appear closed even from a few meters away. It is used when the viewing distance is not great enough for the more favorable OPERA® WHITE 2.2 PERFORATED.

OPERA® HIGH GAIN Front Projection

The front side of the OPERA® HIGH GAIN is pearlescent, 99 % light-tight and can be used for a range of 3D projection types. The mother-of-pearl side has the best known reflection value on the market with a surprisingly good luminance distribution.

SILVERBLACK Front Projection

The front side of SILVERBLACK is silver-colored, 100 % light-tight and well suited for 3D or effect projections. the silver-colored side has a good luminance distribution. Thanks to its very good contrast ratio, SILVERBLACK is also ideal for cinema and home theater applications.

Rear Projection PANORAMA

With a width of 3.05 m, PANORAMA is ideal for seamless 4:3 and 16:9 formats. It is a very translucent, high-contrast rear projection screen and is less sensitive to scattered and ambient light. PANORAMA is best used for full-size projections. For soft-edge projections, short distances between the projector and projection screen should be avoided.

Rear Projection OPTITRANS®

The color-neutral OPTITRANS® projection screen has an excellent light output in a fairly wide core range of the viewing angle. The image quality is excellent, with very good contrast and a very clear appearance. One of the best projection screens for full screen projection on the market!

Rear Projection OPTILUX

The OPTILUX rear projection screen is the slightly cheaper version of OPTITRANS but with similar properties. OPTILUX is slightly darker than OPTITRANS and therefore reacts less to scattered and ambient light, while at the same time having very good light properties in the core area of the viewing angle. The contrast is good and the brightness of the OPTILUX projection is slightly lower than that of the OPTITRANS.

Rear Projection TRANSMISSION

TRANSMISSION was specially developed for LED backlighting. The smallest distances of approx. 10-15 cm to the LED wall are possible with it. Due to the extremely good diffusion performance, individual LED pixels are almost invisible. This is why TRANSMISSION is used in many new studio buildings worldwide. Depending on the LED technology used, it is also suitable for chroma key punching or as a green or blue box. It can also be used as a projection screen for rear projections, but is very sensitive due to its very high brightness combined with high diffusion performance, especially in the transition areas for soft-edge projections.

Our special films

Front Projection ARENA 86

This special film is a mesh-reinforced projection film that is suitable for outdoor use. Due to the very fine mesh, the mesh fabric is also relatively insensitive to the so-called "moiré effect". The surface of the ARENA 86 offers a very good viewing angle. Thanks to its good permeability, the film is also suitable for use as a mesh in front of loudspeakers. ARENA 86 is also very popular for digital printing and can be used for open-air stages, for example.

PVC Diffusion Film FROST

PVC diffusion film with frost effect, which is often used in front of LED walls. The frost effect means that the film shows the light aspects of the projected media, while the darker aspects tend to remain in the background. This creates a beautiful three-dimensional effect. The frost film is a pure diffusion and effect film and therefore not a real projection film.

Special film OPERA 2.2 PRINT

Our Front and Rear Projection OPERA® CREAMY WHITE 2.2 projection film can be designed using digital printing and can be used, for example, on large and small stages as a photorealistic stage brochure or as a printed projection surface in sophisticated trade fair construction.

Projection screens are installed in the professional projection and presentation sector, particularly in the following areas:

Stage and theater

Gerriets was the first manufacturer of PVC projection screens for opera houses and stages. OPERA films are synonymous with high-quality projection screens. Milky matt or light blue OPERA films are frequently used, as well as technical developments such as EVEN films. For optimum sound transmission, there are perforated films such as OPERA WEIẞ 2.2 GELOCHT and GAMMALUX DUO MICRO. SHOW 2.2 and OPTIBLACK 2.2 are ideal as effect and soft-edge projection films.

TV studios

In TV studios, semi-transparent projection screens serve as a background horizon that can be illuminated evenly from the front and rear. For larger distances, rear projection screens such as OPTITRANS or OPTILUX from Gerriets, which allow a lot of light through, are suitable. TRANSMISSION rear projection screens are ideal for smaller distances of around 20 cm or less. It offers a high luminance factor and uniform light distribution, prevents pixelation and ensures uniform illumination.

Virtual studios

For virtual studios, projection screens must provide uniform illumination at low lux values to enable individual lighting of the actors and minimize shadows. Backlit films such as TRANSMISSION or OPTILUX often reduce the so-called green spill effect and make it easier to illuminate the scene from the front. Even at 4K or 8K resolution, Gerriets' fine seams do not impair the image.

Special stage effects and laser shows

Laser shows require projection textiles to show the end of the laser beam. Gerriets laser gauze has been specially developed for this purpose: invisible in the dark, highly transparent and ideal for laser shows. Other textiles such as heirloom grommets or tapestry grommets, commonly used in opera and theater, also enable special effects for laser shows.

Large halls

For events in halls, the interference light factor is crucial, as show lights and LED spotlights can affect the projected image. A suitable projection screen must therefore be moderate in terms of reflection in order to minimize interfering light effects. The robust SCENE is often used for front projections, while dark rear projection films such as OPTITRANS or OPTIBLACK 2.2 are preferred for rear projections. These films reduce reflections from interfering light from the front. Bright projectors are recommended to ensure sufficient brightness.

Open-air events

Open-air events present projections with various challenges such as loss of contrast due to daylight, wind loads and weather influences. Stage designers should take this into account when selecting projection screens. Front or rear projections can be used as required, ideally at the back of the stage to avoid direct sunlight. Suitable films for this are SCENE for front projection, OPTILUX or EVEN for rear projection and ARENA 86 for both. These films help to minimize interfering light effects. Special systems such as the inflatable projection system from Airscreen, which uses the SCENE film, are suitable for public viewing.

Trade fairs and promotional appearances

The requirements for presentations in trade fair construction vary greatly, from simple exhibition wall coverings to effective backlighting and rear or front projection of animations and advertising films. Opera films offer a wide range of possibilities for attracting interested parties. The choice of projection film takes into account not only optical and technical properties, but also seamless height and width, as in the case of the PANORAMA rear projection film with a height of 3.05 m and almost infinite width. OPERA PRINT is suitable as a printed projection film for effective backlighting and is often used as an advertising and design element in trade fair construction. All the projection surfaces described can be used in exhibition stand construction.

Schools or universities, companies, seminar and conference rooms

The GAMMALUX DUO front projection screen from Gerriets is suitable for conference rooms or lecture halls with approx. 200 lux lighting. It minimizes interfering light reflections and improves the black level, especially for text-heavy presentations. In rooms that can be darkened, roller screens with white, fabric-reinforced front projection film are often used.

Private households and home cinemas

Large screens are becoming increasingly popular in private households, either as living room screens or in home cinemas. Projector screens and projectors offer a cost-effective way of setting up a real home cinema. The OPERA WEIẞ 2.2 projection screens, for example, or the SILVERBLACK for more contrast, are ideal for the best price-performance ratio. The OPERA HIGH GAIN is often used for weaker projectors.
