Issey Miyake Fall - Winter 24 - 25, Museum of the History of Immigration / Palais de la Porte Dorée

The House of Issey Miyake unveiled its Fall-Winter 2024-2025 collection on the occasion of the "What Has Always Been" fashion show.

A collection for modern-day travelers, presented in a historically symbolic location: the Palais de la Porte Dorée in Paris. This jewel of the Art Deco movement was built for the 1931 International Colonial Exhibition and today houses the Musée de l'Histoire de l'Immigration, the venue for the fashion show.

The collection, which was divided into the Envision, Enclothe Pants and Asagao series, offered the brand the opportunity to express its ready-to-wear methods such as draping, pleating and seamless knitwear. A truly immersive experience between music and fashion.

To accompany the models, who walked across the stage in graphic and colorful outfits, artistic director Satoshi Kondo had designed a simple, sleek and minimalist setting. The only centerpiece of the décor is a monumental curtain made of metal mesh in the style of finger-jointed chain mail.

The brand turned to Gerriets, who made this feat possible by creating a custom-made curtain in G-MESH 12.0 polished bronze that reflected the light and - as the set required - revealed the sublime fresco by Pierre Henri Etienne Ducos de la Haille.

A technical, exceptional, transparent curtain to celebrate and glorify the codes of the Japanese label while preserving the spirit of couture and the requirements of the set.

"More than the collection itself, it was the whole atmosphere surrounding the Issey Miyake fashion show that proved poetic, from the music to the decor, an enchantment with a curtain that met with unanimous approval."

Project

Curtain G-Mesh 12.0 Bronze-colored, shiny mesh, steel rings Dimensions 9.60 m wide x 7.70 m high, weight 250 kg. Modernity and design for this custom-made curtain, made in one piece and fitted with a spring at the top.
