Le Rendez-vous (The Appointment): a theatrical creation that challenges and fascinates
The set design for Le Rendez-vous, performed by Camille Cottin and directed by Jonathan Capdevielle, is captivating in its boldness and poetry. This intense play resonates with a unique encounter between profound text and remarkable scenography. This adaptation of Katharina Volckmer's novel Jewish Cock interrogates themes of identity and historical guilt, while exploring societal taboos with disconcerting freedom.
Nadia Lauro's set design plays a central role in this production: "An immense velvet curtain detaches itself from the stage frame in a long purple flow, oscillating between magma, pulsating lungs, velvet hills and a living lake. Alternately playing partner and mental space, the textile creature sighs and moves in a strange breath."
Project
A fruitful collaboration between Nadia Lauro and the Gerriets company enabled the set designer to obtain the long-awaited special shade of luminous purple for her curtain. The drapes in dyed BARCELONA CS stage velvet were made in our workshops to impressive lengths. An added value to the show's atmosphere, these curtains allow the artist to play and interact "with this violet flow" while moving, amplifying the emotions of the text.
