"A guided tour through the heart of UNESCO World Heritage Sites".
Founded in 2013, our client ICONEM is an innovative startup company specializing in the 3D digitization of endangered cultural heritage sites. The team of enthusiasts works in partnership with international organizations, local authorities and world-class museums. The digitization in 360° video is done using aerial images taken by drones directly on site, and sometimes even using existing images for monuments that unfortunately no longer exist. In this way, ICONEM designs site-specific architectural 3D models, very large-scale models and creates spectacular immersive exhibitions.
The Royal Saltworks of Arc-et-Senans, in collaboration with ICONEM, wanted to continue the redesign of its visitor tour at the Centre des Lumières in its new immersive 3D space, which is unique in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region. Visitors embark on a journey to the four corners of the world, to the limits of the origins of our civilizations and discover sites listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Navigation is via the interactive globe with views of these wonderful, endangered or inaccessible sites projected in 3D on large screens.
Project
The biggest challenge for our tailoring department was to produce tulle on a very large scale while respecting the very particular geometry of the location: the inclination of the surfaces. We had to insert 56 sleeves into the two large pieces of tulle, as well as sleeves on the back that were adapted to the tensioning system. The nature of the tulle, which contracts, shrinks and stretches, required careful manual work in the studio with prior prototyping and testing on our 14-meter lathe. Despite all these limitations, we managed to produce rectangular, even perfectly straight screens without deformation in an unusual realization.
- Three projection screens, a large triptych made of gray FALSTAFF, two horizontal ones measuring 39.15 m wide x 9.62 m high and the third vertical western piece measuring 6.9 m wide x 13.15 m high.
