PLANNING AID OFFICE SOUND CURTAIN

The sound curtain OFFICE system from Gerriets is an effective, multi-layer acoustic curtain and rail system that can reduce sound by up to 26 dB.

Our OFFICE sound curtain system allows you to create "rooms at the touch of a button". Imagine the flexibility to acoustically and visually separate work areas, create conference zones or acoustically divide large meeting rooms into smaller meeting rooms.

The elegant low-profile track system with the ability to create customised shapes gives you the creative freedom to design visually interesting and acoustically quiet spaces.

Gerriets offers a variety of configuration options to work with you to design a customised solution to suit your requirements.

The great advantage of this system is that better sound insulation can be achieved by retrofitting additional inner layers.

  • Flexible meeting rooms
  • Room-dividing acoustic curtains
  • From 11 dB to 26 dB sound insulation

To plan a suitable system for your application, questions about the acoustic requirements of the curtain and the technical characteristics of the room must be considered. Below you will find a step-by-step guide that will help you to develop and understand the most suitable system for your application.

STEP 1: NUMBER OF CURTAIN LAYERS

There are five standard configurations that you can choose from, which serve as acoustic separation.

Each of these configurations is assigned a dB reduction factor. The inner layers (sound-reflecting and sound-absorbing) are not visible. They are located between the two decorative outer layers.

The parking space corresponds to approx. 1/5 of the total curtain width.

Curtain layers

Our standard extra width for the outer layer is approx. 5% to create a gentle 'wave look' between the runners on the track. This provides an aesthetically pleasing finish to the soundproof curtain.

3-ply

  • Sound insulation value: 11 dB
  • 1 x sound-reflecting inner layer
  • 2 x sound-absorbing decorative outer layers
  • Suitable for visual separation and minimal acoustic separation
  • With additional acoustic layers for a high level of acoustic insulation
  • Weight: 1500.00 g/m²*

5-ply

  • Sound insulation value: 13 dB
  • 1 x sound-reflecting inner layer
  • 2 x sound-absorbing inner layers
  • 2 x sound-absorbing decorative outer layers
  • Suitable for visual separation and minimal to moderate impairment of speech intelligibility
  • With additional acoustic layers for a high level of acoustic insulation
  • Weight: 2100.00 g/m²*

7-ply

  • Sound insulation value: 16 dB
  • 2 x sound-reflecting inner layers
  • 3 x sound-absorbing inner layers
  • 2 x sound-absorbing decorative outer layers
  • Ideal for visual separation and moderate reduction in speech intelligibility
  • With additional acoustic layers for a high degree of acoustic insulation
  • Weight: 2800.00 g/m²*

10-ply

  • Sound insulation value: 21 dB
  • 3 x sound-reflecting inner layers
  • 5 x sound-absorbing inner layers
  • 2 x sound-absorbing decorative outer layers
  • Suitable for visual separation and moderate to high reduction of speech intelligibility
  • With additional acoustic layers for a high degree of acoustic insulation
  • Weight: 3600.00 g/m²*

12-ply

  • Sound insulation value: 26 dB
  • 4 x sound-reflecting inner layers
  • 6 x sound-absorbing inner layers
  • 2 x sound-absorbing decorative outer layers
  • Ideal for visual separation and a high reduction in speech intelligibility
  • Example: For a high degree of privacy when discussing sensitive information
  • Weight: 4500.00 g/m²*

STEP 2: SELECTING THE TEXTILES FOR THE OUTER LAYER

Both outer layers are visible and create the visual effect. That's why we offer a range of visually different fabrics for the outer layer, from wool, flat weave and velvet to two-tone options in many different colours.

HANDGRIP

The Handgrip is an elegant, functional microfibre patch that is attached to the curtain to reduce wear and tear and provide a visual indication of the access point.

CURTAIN STYLE

Depending on the functionality of the system, you should consider how the curtains are arranged on the track.

OFFICE WINDOW

Transparent window for the OFFICE sound curtain, visually appealing and functional for a view into the room. Dimensions: 20 cm x 3 m. Please note that each window increases the parking space requirement by approx. 30 cm.

WALL CONNECTION PROFILE

The wall connection profile provides a flush finish from the curtain to the wall. This reduces the sound transmission at the sides. The outer layers of the curtain are connected to the profile moulding attached to the wall using Velcro tape.

STEP 4: INSTALLATION METHOD

The Gerriets OFFICE acoustic curtain is a complete system consisting of the TRUMPF 95 OFFICE track and a multi-layer acoustic curtain.

To provide the flexibility required for installation in many cases, there are a range of fixing methods suitable for most applications. If one of the standard options is not suitable, we can find a customised solution.

DIRECT CEILING MOUNTING

Optimally designed for rooms with a flat, load-bearing ceiling. For non-concrete ceilings, such as plasterboard, a stable substructure (e.g. multiplex board) is required. This option ensures the best acoustic effect by minimising sound transmission between the track and ceiling.

SUSPENDED CEILING INSTALLATION

Optimally designed for rooms with a flat, load-bearing ceiling. For non-concrete ceilings, such as plasterboard, a stable substructure (e.g. multiplex board) is required. This option ensures the best acoustic effect by minimising sound transmission between the track and ceiling.

WALL MOUNTING

Designed for applications where the track needs to be fixed to a wall. The wall must be strong enough to support the weight of the track and curtain. Please note that this option results in sound leakage, which reduces the acoustic effect of the sound curtain.

STEP 5: CURTAIN OPERATION

Depending on the size, weight and complexity of your curtain, you will need to decide whether you want a manually operated curtain (track) or a motorised system. Remember to take into account the weight (step 1 - number of curtain layers) and height of the curtain.

ADDITIONAL CRITERIA

  • The minimum radius for bends is 50 cm.
  • The minimum distance from the centre of the rail to any other obstacle (axial dimension) should be 15 cm.
  • If a wall recess is provided for the parking position of the curtain, the minimum width is therefore 30 cm.
  • As a general rule, the parking space should be approximately 20 % of its total width.
